Happy New Year

It is great to see the joy of P. and V., new believers, as they study the Bible and watch God answer prayer. They have seen God work in P’s father’s heart so that he is less opposed to her now. Thank you for praying for that. They have seen God help them with exams at school (they are in 12^th grade). They have rejoiced in answers to prayer as God helps me caring for patients and sharing the gospel at the hospital. They thank God for new people coming to church. They are ever grateful to God for their salvation and for changing their lives. D. is not as regular coming to the daily Bible study, but knows she is born again and a child of God. S. makes it to the Saturday Bible study, plus church on Sunday and is also happy in Christ. L., the new believer who is a student in Phnom Penh has not been willing to attend church, just like her father, our neighbor. Please pray for God to help his children grow in grace, and that their families and friends would turn to Christ.

S.  a new worker at Mr. L.’s ice cream shop has visited church once. He used to play in our yard with other neighbor children when he was a child. Please pray for him to turn to the Lord for salvation.

Hubert is planning a trip to Phnom Penh Thursday to Saturday this week.

Thank you for praying for our family Christmas celebration via Skype and phone to our children and grandchildren on the 25th. God has blessed us richly.

Thank you for your faithfulness in prayer with us. Let’s continue to watch God work in the New Year 2014.

Merry Christmas

God blessed in the Koh Kong Baptist Church Christmas celebration on Sunday the 22^nd. There were many special Christmas songs, testimonies, messages, reciting Scripture and good fellowship. The children put on costumes to portray the Christmas story and wore them during the noon meal together. For the evening service, the youth dressed up and portrayed the story of Christ’s advent. There were a few visitors present. Thank you for praying for God’s blessing.

Please continue to pray for the families of the new believers to turn to Christ. P.’s father is upset at her for continuing to stand for the Lord and refusing to worship the spirits. Praise God for the grace He is giving her.

God gave us a great anniversary/vacation trip to a national park in Thailand. It was relaxing and refreshing. Thank you for praying.

Have a blessed Christmas, rejoicing in the Savior, God’s great gift to us.

Emmanuel

Studying English as a second language can be a lot of work. Some of Hubert’s students in his English classes are very diligent. He teaches English five days a week. Then on Sunday the students come to the evening service which is in both English and Khmer language. We thank God for those who have accepted Christ. Please pray for more to understand and turn to the Lord. Pray especially for the new students to realize who Christ is and their need of Him. Keep praying for families of the Christians to be saved as well.

The whole church is involved with Christmas preparations now. The house is decorated (the church meets in our home). The celebration is planned for December 22. People are memorizing verses, deciding what food to make, practicing special music, and rejoicing in the Lord who came - Emmanuel. Pray for Hubert as he preaches.

Next week Hubert and I plan to go to Thailand, to a national park. Making van and bus connections is always an adventure. And managing in a country where we don’t speak the language is a challenge. Pray for a smooth and fun trip.

“Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” Matthew 1:23

 

Celebrations

Thank you for praying for a smooth trip to Phnom Penh last week. God answered and helped us in all things there. When it looked like they could not give a new visa right away because a key person was out of the office, we then got word that he returned, and the visa was issued in just a couple days. When the rented motorcycles gave problems, God protected and we were able to get one replaced and the other fixed. Our thanksgiving celebration with friends was a blessing. We found a new print shop and they did a very good job printing Hubert’s books. Hubert made it to their shop about 7 am Friday morning to pick them up, then to the motorcycle shop to return the rented cycle, and then to the bus depot in time to catch the bus to Koh Kong which left at 7:45 am. I was waiting there for him with our baggage already on the bus.  God’s presence with us was evident as we traveled. He is so good.

The youth in the church have begun preparations for Christmas. Pray that it would be a great time of outreach to the lost, as well as good fellowship for the believers. Pray that God would be glorified in all aspects of our celebration.

Please pray for preparations for our anniversary trip to Thailand. We thank God for 40 years He has given us together.  We have many wonderful memories.

Thanksgiving

We are so thankful for God and that He wants people to know Him. We are grateful for what He is teaching us and showing us. We appreciate the family of God and our family and friends. We thank God for health and strength to serve Him each day. May our hearts offer the sacrifice of thanksgiving continually.

We thank God for saving more people in Koh Kong. A patient at the hospital accepted Christ a few days ago.  And today S., a student from the English class, was born anew. Two of the other new believers were present as he prayed to receive Christ. The new believer’s class keeps growing as we seek to ground people in the Word. L. teaches one of the classes.

Tuesday we are planning to go to Phnom Penh. The road is getting worse all the time and trucks and buses sometimes get stuck. Please pray for smooth travels. I need to pick up my new passport and then get a new visa. Hubert needs to reprint some of his books. Pray that we will find a shop that does better printing. We have shopping to do and other errands. On Wednesday evening Michelle Little will be flying out. Pray for her travels back to New York State.  Then Thursday evening we are looking forward to celebrating Thanksgiving in the home of another American missionary family.

“I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.” Psalm 69:30

Joy

When W. accepted the Lord as his Savior less than a week ago, he was filled with joy. He had been considering the claims of Christ for a long time and concluded God is real, is truth and is the only Savior. Now he loves the Lord and sings of Him at home and at school. He treasures times in prayer with the Lord. He witnesses face to face and on his Facebook posts. He came to both morning and evening services on Sunday. He played the bells with the youth group. He is delighted with the Lord! Please pray for his family to accept Christ.

God has done great things while Michelle Little has been with us. She has visited many homes and witnessed to many people. Christians have been taught the Word. She learned quite a bit of the language. Please pray that God would continue to work through her during her last week here now. Pray for her trip back to the USA November 27-28 and God’s using her wherever He chooses in the years ahead, maybe even to return to Cambodia.

Bible Classes

 “Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:20.

  Praise God that He is with us in the work of teaching believers. Besides the teaching in the Sunday and Wednesday church services, individual classes with the various new Christians has made very busy weeks lately. We work around their school and work schedules. Often Michelle is in the family room talking and witnessing to a couple girls while I am in the kitchen teaching Bible to a believer while Hubert is in the main room teaching an English class. Other times I go across the street to teach the neighbor, or today it was even at the market where there was a relatively quiet corner (except for some children playing with a dead mouse). One of the girls is heading back to Phnom Penh in a couple days. One of the fellows was here only a couple days and is back in Phnom Penh. The others have school extra courses that change from time to time, so our meeting times are fluid also. But as long as people are willing to come and study the Word of God, we are delighted to teach. Please keep praying for us all to continue to “grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.” 2 Peter 3:18

Forgiven

God continues to work in hearts. Praise Him for two more people who have found forgiveness in Christ Jesus.

One of our neighbors, L., is a student in pharmacy school in Phnom Penh. This week while she was back here in Koh Kong between school semesters, visiting her parents, Michelle and I were able to talk with her about the Lord. She said she wanted to become a Christian. Friday she prayed to receive Christ. Sunday evening she was in church. Please pray for her to grow in the Lord.  L. in Phnom Penh is excitedly looking forward to discipling her and bringing her into her church there.  

Then Sunday night, one of the English students who has been quite interested in knowing the Lord for some time, finally made her decision to be saved. Pray for D. and her new life in Christ. One of the girls from church had been the first to witness to D. 

Thank God for the skit that three of the young people in the church performed during the Sunday evening services over the past two weeks. It answered a lot of questions that Buddhist have about Christianity. Several of the students video-recorded it on their phones.

“Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.” Psalm 32:1

 

 

 

Be Exalted, O God

God gave us a smooth trip into Thailand. We did some shopping and spent one night in Chantaburi. Michelle got to see several places. She was able to secure her new Cambodian visa upon reentering Koh Kong. It is nice living close to the border. Hubert got a lot of proof-reading done on his commentary while riding in the vans the past two days. As for me, I can’t read while riding. But often I can at least work on reviewing verses I am memorizing. That is always uplifting.

Please pray for the Cambodian students in Hubert’s English classes. Their enthusiasm in the Sunday evening singing is great to see. They love Michelle here and the time she spends with them. They need the Lord. Praise the Lord for some new young people who came last Sunday night who are not studying with him. One is a student nurse at the hospital. God is working.

“Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth.” Psalm 57:5

 

 

Teaching God's Word

Teaching the Word of God is such a privilege. At the present time, P. comes daily and we are going through the main stories of the Bible showing how God worked and continues to work. Yesterday when we talked of Naaman and his going to the house of Rimmon with his master, she could really identify because of when her father said she had to go to the Buddhist temple with him, even after she became a Christian. She told him she would not worship any other god but the true God Jehovah, and he relented.  Seven year old R. pops into the house most days about noon and we study Bible and a little English together too. I love to meditate on the lessons from the Word throughout the week as I prepare for teaching on Sunday as well, in Sunday School and in two homes. Thanks for praying for both Hubert and I as we teach the Bible.

Yesterday was the last radio program for the time being. Hubert decided to stop his program as there has been little response. He heard people are able to get some Christian programing from stations from other places now too.

Please pray for a trip into Thailand planned for next Monday and Tuesday.

“Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you.” 2 Thes. 3:1

God Will Supply

Baptisms are special events. P. was excited to follow the Lord in baptism one week ago. L. and his brother brought their boats and about nine of us from the church climbed down into them. We went out into the estuary and held the ceremony. Praise the Lord for no rain during that time. Pray that God will continue to be glorified in her life.

McKong ice cream shop has a bright new look with the red and white striped walls. We thank God for helping L. in his shop. However, due to the floods in Thailand, it is hard for Walls to supply the ice cream he needs. Please pray for God to meet this need. Flooding in several provinces in Cambodia also has affected many people, but not down in our corner of the country.

Please pray for K. a member of our church who is in the hospital. She has not been well for a few weeks. We know God is able to meet her needs and those of her family. Her whole family are Christians.

“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19

 

 

 

Praying for One Another

Praise God for Michelle’s safe trip and that all her luggage arrived with her as well. God is already using her. She has been an encouragement to the Christians, and has had opportunities to witness and teach the Word of God. The staff at the hospital is happy to have her here too. During my time in Phnom Penh I saw God answer prayer in many ways, helping me in meeting various people and accomplishing other errands. Let's thank God together for His working.

Please keep praying for Hubert’s students that study English with him. Some who have been coming for quite a while are seriously considering accepting Christ. Others who are newer don’t understand much yet about the true God. Pray that God would keep working in their hearts, and that we would communicate the precious news of Jesus Christ clearly.

P., one of the Koh Kong Christians who is studying and working in Phnom Penh, needs our prayers that he would make right choices and stand true for God. Another Christian, M., who has returned to the Philippines, needs the Lord’s power in her difficult situation. Thank you for praying.

Travels, etc.

Michelle Little is preparing to come next week. Pray that God will give her a smooth trip here and use her during the two months she serves the Lord with us. Pray that we would communicate the gospel clearly and that God would give fruit.

September 30 I plan to travel to Phnom Penh to pick up Michelle. I also plan to turn in an application to renew my passport, plus meet with various people in the capital. With a day for travel by bus each way, and two days there, I expect to be away from Koh Kong for four days. Please pray for God to work out the many details involved.

Praise God for answered prayer for peace in the country of Cambodia. The political demonstrations in the capital were mostly peaceful and appear to be over. We thank God for His working.

This week and next is a holiday season for Cambodian Buddhists. It is called Pechum Ben, and the people visit many pagodas to give offering to their deceased ancestors.  Sometimes Christians are pressured by their friends and relatives to join in the ceremonies. Pray that it will be a time of victory for them as they refuse to participate and give a clear witness of their life in Christ.

“But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Cor. 15:57

 

God Continues to Answer Prayer

Praise God for the church permit renewal that arrived! God answered prayer. Please pray for continued good relations with the ministry of religion locally and in Phnom Penh.

God also answered prayer in helping me during the medical presentation at the hospital last week. It had gotten postponed from the scheduled time the week before. That gave more time for prayer and for my preparations. It was well received by the staff, and I hope will help in giving even better care to patients. We desire to see God’s name honored through my presence working with the staff of Koh Kong Hospital. Please continue to pray for the salvation of people on the medical team as well as the salvation of patients and their families.

Mr. C. from Tumpeang Rung came to church last Sunday for the first time. He is the new believer who lives an hour away. Hubert and L. have been going by motorcycle to his house to teach him weekly. Keep praying for his growth in walking with the Lord, and for others in his town to accept Christ.

"Through our Lord Jesus Christ"

Thank you for praying for the weekly radio program. Please keep on. Today again it did not come on the air at 1:30 pm as scheduled. Hubert hopped on his motorcycle and went to the station. Then they put it on. I was listening at home and heard it start at 1:40. This has happened several times. Pray for the station to broadcast the program on time each week. Pray for the preparation of each program and for people to be saved through hearing the Gospel.

Praise God for two more people accepting Christ this week! One was another 7 year old child in the children’s church. She has been coming for a long time with her mother. The other was a lady who lives a couple hours away. She lived here in Koh Kong before her marriage and we have witnessed to her many times. Now that she lives in a remote area, she has been spending time reading her Bible and praying. Praise God for her decision become a Christian. Please pray for N. and C. to grow in the Lord.

At this time we continue to enjoy peace in the country, but protests are planned since the election results were announced yesterday. Please keep praying.

Supplications and Giving of Thanks

One little boy in children’s church, R., accepted Christ yesterday! He has been coming to church with his parents all his life. He is 7 ½ years old. Both his parents are Christians. We have been praying for R. and teaching him every opportunity we can. When he is not in school he leads his blind father around to his customers for whom he sharpens knives. Pray that he will grow in the Lord and serve Him with his whole heart all his life.   

At the hospital I do informal teaching to the staff frequently, and occasionally formal medical presentations. Please pray for me as I prepare and teach about neonatal infections to a group of doctors this week.

Cambodia has been waiting for the results of the recent election to be announced. There are rumors of possible unrest. Please pray for continued peace and for God’s will to be done in leadership in this country. “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayer, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour.” 1 Timothy 2:1-3.

In Christ Jesus

Thank you for praying for Hubert as he rode his motorcycle to Phnom Penh last week. It took six hours to get there. Coming back, the motorcycle broke down. God protected him and provided for him. He spent a night in a town halfway between Phnom Penh and Koh Kong, and he and the bike came by van the next day. It is now repaired and working well. He is happy to have the computer working much better now since taking it to the capital.

Each Sunday Hubert and L. try to go to Tumpeang Rung, one hour away to teach C., a new believer. But he has had to work out in the forest on Sunday the past couple weeks. Please pray that he would be able to study every week.

Some new students joined Hubert's English classes this week. Pray for him as he teaches and for the students as they learn. Pray as the students hear the gospel in the Sunday services, that they would be saved. Pray that they would see Christ in us.

“But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.”  Ephesians 2:13

 

Do Not Cease to Ask God

It is great to see the joy of a person rescued by the power of God out of darkness into light. This past week M. made a decision to turn her life over to God. She is so grateful to God for His salvation. She is from the Philippines and has been taught the Bible quite a lot through the years but was living a sinful life and had never been born again. Please pray that she will have victory over temptations and do what is right before God always. Pray that she will be faithful in a good church when she returns to her country.

We thank God that this past Sunday morning a couple Cambodian people we had been praying for came to church for the first time. I pray they will continue coming and grow in the Lord and His Word. One (V.) has professed salvation. The other (C.) has not but is reading the Bible.

Hubert plans to go to Phnom Penh this week for 2 ½  days to have his computer worked on and his motorcycle worked on. Please pray as he rides his motorcycle to the capital through the mountains. Pray for all repairs to be done well, especially that the computer will work well.

“Cease not to cry unto the LORD our God for us…” 1 Samuel 7:8

God's Church in Koh Kong

It takes patience to wait and trust God.  In Koh Kong Baptist Church Sunday after Sunday we keep hoping the attendance will increase. There are visitors. There are decisions for salvation. These are often people who have never before attended a church. Then there are also people who fall away. I am glad the Lord gave us the parable of the sower and the seed. We see it here so often. It has been quite a while since we have had new people become members. We thank God for the faithful Christians who are shining brightly for the Lord. Yet some of these move away and serve the Lord in other places. Please pray for increased attendance and an increased number of people wholeheartedly serving the Lord in the church. Pray for the preaching and teaching of the Word. Pray for awareness of meeting with God in every service, and selfless worship offered to the Almighty One.

Please pray for the Wednesday prayer meeting to be well attended. Pray for children to be saved in the Sunday children’s church. Pray for churches in Phnom Penh where some of our young people are attending, that those churches would be strong in the Lord and His Word and growing.

“I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Matthew 16:18

The Lord Rules Over All

Thank you for praying for the Cambodian national elections on July 28. God has answered prayer and kept Cambodia for the most part peaceful through the election process. Pray for the results that continue to be discussed. We thank God for the freedom we have here to tell the good news of Jesus Christ.

News from USA: we thank God for protecting two of our grandchildren that were in a bus on July 27 returning from camp to their church, Colonial Hills Baptist Church of Indianapolis. The teen bus following theirs was in an accident. Three adults were killed and entered the wonderful presence of Christ in heaven. Many others were injured and are recovering. God is using it to bring people to salvation in Him! Please pray for full recovery for all involved and for God to continue to accomplish great things through this.

Another short term worker is preparing to come serve the Lord with us for two months. Michelle Little plans to leave New York September 30 to come to Koh Kong. Please pray for her and God’s work through her here.

“For the kingdom is the LORD’s: and he is the governor among the nations.” Psalms 22:28

 

Challenges

Monday at 1:30 pm! We can’t forget to turn on the radio to hear the broadcast of our weekly Bible study. Why? Because sometimes our local FM station airs it and sometimes it doesn’t. We want people to hear the good news of Christ through this outreach. Besides, we pay for 4 months in advance.  Please pray that it would be faithfully broadcasted each week. Pray for Hubert and Lalin as they prepare the studies. Pray for listeners to come to know Christ.

Because of increasing pressure from her husband who is opposed to Christianity, R. has decided to stop coming to church and stop studying English at our house. Please pray for her to be strong in the Lord and do what is right. Pray that her husband will not object to her coming to church. Pray for her whole family to be saved.

Please ask the Lord to help P. in Phom Penh, that the Lord would direct him to a Christian wife in just the right time, and protect him from non-Christian relationships.

“If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”  Galatians 5:25

 

Please Pray

Hubert continues to enjoy teaching English classes. Most of the students come to the Sunday evening church service. They especially like the singing. Two of the young men have expressed interest in accepting Christ, but are afraid of their families’ reactions. Please pray that W. and S. would trust in Christ, and that their families too would turn to the Lord.

P., who is one month old in Christ, is planning to begin studying the Bible with me daily now that summer break from school is here. Pray that she would keep growing in the Lord. She is faithful at the evening services and L. is teaching her weekly discipleship lessons.  Please pray that she would attend Sunday morning worship as well.

Cambodian elections are scheduled for Sunday, July 28. Please pray that the country would remain peaceful through this time. It is so good to know that God rules over the nations.

Visits

As our boat turned out from the canal into the estuary, a full beautiful rainbow arched straight ahead of us. God’s promises are sure. His presence was with us and He blessed the trip to Koh Pao last Saturday. The light rain at the commencement of the journey was brief, and the continued overcast sky protected from the sun. After the one hour ride in the fishing boat, we hiked from the shore to T.’s house. The streams we crossed were shallow. T. was at her house and we had a good Bible study with her. Please pray for her to keep growing in the Lord, and to come to church when she travels to Koh Kong.

It is rainy season, and though it was late starting this year, we have caught up to our usual amount for this date in the year. Hubert enjoys keeping a record of the rainfall. According to our rain gage, yesterday and last night set a new record. We got about 16 inches of rain in 24 hours. This was double our previous record.

Tomorrow Hannah and I take the bus to Phnom Penh for her to fly out on the 18^th. Please pray for her trip back to the States and God’s guidance in her life. Praise God for using her here this past month.

Interceding

Thank you for praying for our trip to Thailand last week. God protected us when our taxi was in a minor accident. He helped us in all parts of the trip. His loving care is wonderful.

Please pray for:

-          Hubert and L.’s weekly Bible study in Tumpeang Rung, one hour away, with new believer, C. He is delighted to keep learning more about the Lord. The road there is good most of the way, and raincoats give protection on the motorcycle from our frequent rains.

 

-          Mrs. K. whose health continues to deteriorate. This month Hannah S. has been teaching the weekly Bible lesson we have with her in her home. I translate for her.

-          We haven’t heard from Mrs. T. who lives way up the river for a long time and want to try again this week to visit her.

-          Miss L. continuing her medical studies in the capital. She praises God for His help. On Sundays she helps teach Sunday School for the children in her church. She has a burden for her family here in Koh Kong to turn to the Lord.

-          Hubert and I to be used by the Master in every way He directs.

God's Working

God has again demonstrated his power working in lives. Our neighbor, Mr. S., accepted the Lord last Thursday! He has been studying English and Bible with Hubert for several months. We have witnessed to him for several years. He finally realized that Christ is the truth and Buddhism is not. He is a pork butcher and runs a guest house. Please pray for him to grow in the Lord and come faithfully to church. Pray for his family to accept Christ. Another neighbor is occasionally attending services.

July 4 and 5 we plan to take Hannah to visit Thailand. Please pray for our trip. It will be going to a town just a couple hours into the country. She will be able to get a new visa when we reenter Cambodia. She needs that to finish out her weeks with us.  

For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands.” Psalm 92:4

A New Sister

 After the song service last Sunday evening, the electricity went off. We lit candles and continued the service. The message was on having a personal relationship with Christ. Most of the participants were students from Hubert’s English classes and unsaved. After the close, we were talking in small groups. Hannah and Hubert talked with P. She had already decided before coming that she wanted to ask Christ to save her. She had asked her mother’s permission and her mother was happy with P.’s decision, even though it meant a break with the family tradition of Buddhism. After praying, P. was so excited that now she had become a Christian. Her joy was abounding. She eagerly desired that her whole family would also find new life in Jesus. Please pray for this family, and for P. to grow in grace and knowledge of the Lord.

The church permit renewal application papers were accepted last week in the Department of Religion office in Phnom Penh. That you for praying for that; but please continue to pray for the granting of the renewed permit in order that the church will remain legal.

This week the request for the renewal of our church permit is being submitted in Phnom Penh. It is not easy to secure. Please pray for the people involved with this process and for a smooth granting of the document. It is required by the government in order for the church to continue to be legal.

I have bus tickets to travel to the capital on the 11^th and return with Hannah, a short term nurse, on the 14^th. Please pray for the people I plan to meet with while in the capital, and the errands to be done there. Pray for Hannah as she travels and then adjusts to the 12 hour time change. We are looking forward to great fellowship and seeing the Lord work in special ways during her month here.

One of Hubert’s English students, P., is understanding more and more about the gospel. We pray she will soon accept the Savior. We had a great talk together after the evening service last Sunday. It was the first time that her brother also came to the service. God has given us contact with her whole family several times recently. Praise Him.

Coming Soon

 

A sermon we listened to yesterday was on watching for Christ’s soon return. What joy to anticipate that triumphal event.

And now we rejoice that one more man is ready for the Lord’s coming! Mr. C. accepted Christ yesterday at the hospital. He had been bitten by a snake and was close to death when he arrived at the emergency department a few days ago. God gave healing for his body and spoke to his heart. He was eager to listen each time we explained truths from God’s Word. He read the literature we left with him. His home is in a town one hour away. Hubert and L. plan to begin weekly trips to his town to teach him discipleship lessons. We hope he will be able to come into Koh Kong and attend church at least some Sundays. Please pray for him to grow in the Lord and be a witness to others in his town.

God answered prayer and the computers are working well now.

Several of the Christians in the church are facing pressure from their families to turn back to Buddhism. Please pray for them to be strong in the Lord and know His grace and peace. Soon, in heaven, all trials will be over. We will celebrate God’s victories.

“But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.” 1 Peter 4:7

 

God's Working

God has been giving great opportunities to share the gospel and teach and encourage Christians this week though visitation to homes, visitors in our home, and contacts at the hospital. We have often seen God work in special ways during the time of having short term workers here with us, and this has followed that same pattern. It is a joy having Miss S. here. Please keep on asking God for more disciples to be made.

Our next short termer, Hannah, is planning to arrive from the USA June 14. Please pray for her preparations, for her month with us, and for God’s glory as He continues to work here in Koh Kong.

Hubert’s computer continues to give problems. Please ask the Lord to make it work well.

Our church permit needs to be renewed. Please pray that is will go smoothly.

Continue in Praise and Prayer

Praise God for

-          Klen’s mother who accepted Christ this past week! It was her son that we had the Christian funeral for in March. Pray for her growth in grace.

-          The books that got printed well in Phnom Penh. Please keep praying for the remainder of the books which are still being finished and will be sent down to us here in Koh Kong.

-          The new one year visa for Hubert and the six month visa still being processed for Mary.

-          Miss S., the Christian Thai pharmacist working with us for two weeks. God is blessing. Pray that God will use her witness to the hospital staff and others. Pray for the salvation of her own family back in Thailand.

-          The radio program and the new programs that need to be made for airing.

Books to Print

God has helped Hubert and Mr. L. and Miss L. in preparing books for helping Cambodian Christians grow in knowledge of God and His Word. It has not been without obstacles, such as his computer getting lost in Bangkok last January, the documents not being in the right format for the printer on his trip to Phnom Penh in April, and this week, his present computer having major problems which he was able to resolve. We no longer have the same printing shop available in Phnom Penh where we printed books before. But the new printing shop has done a good job on small items for us.  Now the following ten books are ready for printing. Pray that they would be successfully published. Please also pray for their distribution and use by God’s people. Pray that God would be glorified.

Showers

Showers! Praise the Lord for the tropical showers that have begun to come each day. It is the beginning of rainy season. Along with the showers comes cooler air for few hours. The nights had been so hot recently that it was hard to sleep. What a gift from the Lord to have the temperature drop at night.  Another challenge that those who have visited us are familiar with is the loud music of neighbors celebrating special occasions often until midnight. That also interferes with sleep. We thank the Lord for each good night of sleep.

Showers, yes, but the showers are very short, lasting only a few minutes. They are not sufficient to refill our rain water reservoir or the city water reserves. Therefore most of the day we don’t have running water in the house. We thank God that we are familiar with using water dipped from a bucket. Each year at this time water is in short supply. We are so thankful to God for providing water for each day.

Please pray for showers of God’s blessing on His work here in Koh Kong. We pray for wisdom and for more lives to be changed by the power of God.

 

“…There shall be showers of blessing.”  Ezekiel 34:26

Remember

We need to remember what God has done for us. There are so many happy memories from my short visit to Indiana and Michigan. God gave me a great time with family and friends. I met new friends. The Lord worked out each detail of travel, including driving up to Michigan the night before Kevin and Hannah’s driveway flooded over, making the connections on return flights fine even though all three had delays, my luggage arriving with me, the bus to Koh Kong got fixed before we got on, even though we had to wait, and more and more. My lesson for the ladies’ Sunday School class was on noticing what God does and praising Him.

Please continue to pray for the Thai pharmacist, S. coming in May. May the Lord use us together for great things.

Hubert will need to travel to Phnom Penh mid-May to renew our visas. He will try again to get his doctrine book printed. Last week he tried, but the format had to be changed. Please keep praying for this project to get completed well and be used by Christians.

 Miss L. moved into a new place to live in Phnom Penh as she studies medicine. Please pray for her there and God’s guarding and using her life. We thank Him for how He has led her thus far.
