Praising God

Praise God for what He is doing and please continue in prayer.

•  The water leak in our house got fixed. The landlord and Hubert found the problem in a connection in a wall and we now have running water upstairs again.

•  Praise God for six people in prayer meeting on Wednesday evening. Pray that the number would increase and we would together see God bless Koh Kong Baptist Church.

•  The weekly Radio Bible Study and the radio play are being aired. Pray for people to understand and turn to Christ. Pray that listeners would contact us for more information and follow up.

•  Pray that our church permit would be granted by the government office in Phnom Penh.

•  It is a blessing to see the spirit of love and faith among most of the members of the church. Pray that those who have a problem in this area would be reconciled.

"I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers, hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints"  Philemon 1:4,5

Prayer Requests

It was exciting to see S. teaching the Bible lesson to the children for the first time this past Sunday. She was nervous but did a great job. She loved doing it. Pray as I go over the lesson with her during the week in preparation to teach.

Saturday I called on the sister of one of the believers in the church. She had many questions about the Bible as it is so new to her. Sunday she came to church with her two children, a five year old and a three month old. Pray that she would keep coming, would understand, and would accept Christ.

Another lady that we have witnessed to in the past was in church for the first time Sunday. She is facing a challenge in her life. Pray that S. would commit her life to the Master who can solve her problems.

Leaks in the water system in our house here have been challenges during the past month. Pray that the plumber would get them fixed soon. Our landlord has been in contact with him. At this time we have running water downstairs but not upstairs.

Today Hubert was able to find a new ice cream supplier for McKong Ice Cream Shop. The previous supplier was unable to fill the orders. Keep praying for God to bless L.'s little business. God has used him as a witness to customers. It is also a testimony to all that it is closed on Sundays, the Lord's Day.

"Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ...That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak."  Col. 4:3,4

Praise and Prayer Requests from Cambodia

Praise the Lord for specific answers to prayer.

Saturday while talking to Jonathan, Cherith (our daughter), and family on Skype, we told them we could hear loud music coming from a neighbor's party. Typical Cambodian parties sometimes go very late. Since there had been a wedding party right in front of our house when Jonathan and Cherith were visiting us last month, they really understood. Cherith told 7 year old Adrianna what we had just said and asked, "Do you know what that means?" Adrianna nodded and answered "Yes, it means you can't sleep." They prayed. God answered. We slept in spite of the noise. God showed us His loving care.

Some of you prayed for the radio play. Hubert talked with our local FM station today and they agreed to air the play for the next seven weeks, right at the time Hubert requested. Please keep praying as the first episode will be broadcasted on January 22.

One of the teens, S., will begin teaching the Bible lesson for children's church here in Koh Kong next Sunday morning. Pray for her as she learns to teach and for the children to respond to God's Word. Pray for our other Cambodian Bible teachers, T., P., L. and L., and their students. What a joy to watch God use them.

Please pray for me as I teach at the hospital. I desire to communicate clearly, and see it make a difference in lives.

With furlough approaching in just five months, we are asking God to guide as we set up speaking dates in our churches. We desire to be used of God in every way He chooses during the months of ministry in the USA. Please also ask the Lord to accomplish great things in building His church in Koh Kong during the remaining time of this term here in Cambodia.

"...Always labouring fervently for you in prayer, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God."  Col 4:12

Prayer Requests

Praise God for the joy He gives in serving Him here in Koh Kong. Sharing the Good News of salvation in Jesus Christ brings joy. Teaching His Word to Christians is also exciting.

It has been encouraging this week to have guests from Phnom Penh traveling through to Thailand. (We are near the border.) Christian fellowship is a treasure.

Please pray for the radio play. It is almost ready to air. In addition to making CD's to take to our local FM radio station, the cast is performing it in our Sunday evening youth meetings, one segment each week. It answers many questions about the differences between Buddhism and Christianity. The gospel is given clearly in the dialogue between the actors. They are enjoying doing this work for the Lord. Pray that people will accept Christ after hearing the play.

Praise and Prayer Requests for God's work in Koh Kong

Praise the Lord for a little girl, T., who accepted the Lord in the children's Bible class in the town of Cham Yiem yesterday! We teach there every Sunday afternoon. She wanted God to forgive her sins and make her His child. It was so precious to see her faith. Pray that she would grow in the Lord. Pray that we would have good places for the two classes to meet there. We are having to move around when our usual places are occupied.

Hubert has a new student in his afternoon English class. Pray that God would use this class in helping people come to know the Lord. He teaches this class five days a week from 4 to 5 pm. He also teaches English to one private student, N., each morning at 7. God is able to work in hearts through these contacts.

New Christians, S. and his wife had only been studying discipleship lessons with Hubert for about a week when they were forced out of the little house they had built here in Koh Kong. We think they returned to the island town where they were from before. They have no phone so we have no way to contact them. Pray for them to continue to read the Word of God, to grow in their faith in the Lord, and to contact us when they can.
