The Lord will do Wonders

 

Being able to Skype and phone our children to keep up a bit of what is happening in their lives is a wonderful gift from the Lord. We thank the Lord for His working in each of their lives. This week five of our grandchildren plan to attend summer camp in Michigan with their church. Please pray that God will do a great work there. Our son and daughter-in-law, Hans and Thuy, are anticipating the arrival of their third child, our 14^th grandchild. Please pray for the new baby and his family.

This week I plan to go to Phnom Penh again. Please pray as I meet with several individuals, take our visitor, Carly, to the airport, pick up Hubert’s new passport and work on visas, talk with our bank, shop and do some other errands. Getting around the city on a motorcycle in rainy season is a bit more challenging than in dry season. Pray for God to guide and bless in all the appointments, that His name would be glorified.

Daily Life

Daily life in Cambodia is full of surprises

n  Like the electricity going off at any time for a few minutes or a whole day. We are so grateful to God that most of the time we have electricity and that when it goes off we have candles and flashlights. I’m also glad the stove is gas and not electric.

n  Like the city water going off, or being brown when it comes on. But praise the Lord he provides rain and we have a rainwater tank and collection system. Unfortunately the tank has a hole in the side, which makes a pretty fountain. But God supplies sufficient rain that we still have a good water supply in the house. We always keep barrels of water in the house as well.

n  Like the internet going off sometimes. But God gives patience and eventually it gets working again. Meanwhile there are plenty of things on the to-do list that don’t require the internet.  

God has ways to remind us to be grateful for the daily needs he provides. He wants us to offer the sacrifice of thanksgiving continually.

“I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving…” Ps 116:17

That All Should Come to Repentance

Thank you for praying for Mr. P’s wife. On Friday when Hubert was having a Bible study in their home, she accepted Christ too. The whole family, Mr. & Mrs. P and their two children were in church again on Sunday. The one-year-old was even fairly quiet during Sunday School so her mother was able to hear the whole lesson.  We don’t have a nursery. Praise God and please continue to pray for their growth in grace and knowledge of God.

Carly, an American pre-med student is doing things at the hospital with me. Please pray for her. Please pray for an Australian volunteer at the hospital who also is not saved. God is not willing that any should perish. There are a few other foreigners working in the area and tourists who occasionally come to the hospital for medical care. Pray for God to work in their hearts as well that they would turn to the Lord.

“…Not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9

 

 

 

Rejoice

God continues to work in hearts and answer prayer. Sunday after Sunday School, Mr. P. accepted Christ!  He has been coming to church with his wife and two little children for a couple months. Please pray for him to grow in grace. Hubert has been having a weekly Bible study in their home also. Please pray that his wife would receive God’s gift of salvation soon.

This week we plan to travel to Phnom Penh again. Jensyn and Iliana will be flying out on Wednesday to return to the States. God has blessed their ministry these two weeks. It was not easy for them to say good-bye to their many new friends. Then on Thursday, June 5, we meet a pre-med student arriving from Iowa. Her name is Carly. Please pray for her time with us.

Our co-workers, the Freezes, plan to return to Cambodia June 17. Please pray for God’s guiding them in their travels. They work in the eastern part of Cambodia.
