Travels

It has been a great week teaching about the events leading up to the cross and the resurrection! Two of the students who came from Phnom Penh asked to study the Bible with us during their days back here in Koh Kong. They had come for the Khmer New Year holiday, but the timing corresponded well with our celebration of the resurrection. The other students here joined in and each day for a week we considered the purchasing of our salvation. Focusing on Christ was precious. Sunday morning we had a 6:30 am sunrise service. L. preached. After our regular services from 8 to 9:30 which also taught of the victory won that first Easter, we enjoyed fellowship around food. Thank you for praying.

Hubert will be going to Phnom Penh on Tuesday, returning on Wednesday.  He has several errands. Please pray for his trip.

The same day, I will be leaving for a medical conference in Greece. I will be away for two and one-half weeks. Please pray that God will help me and use me for His glory.

Resurrection Sunday

Resurrection Sunday is a wonderful time to reflect on Christ’s work of redemption. We proclaim to people around that we are remembering the death and resurrection of Christ in a special way this Sunday. Koh Kong Baptist Church is looking forward to celebrating with a sunrise service, two special numbers on the bells, the worship services and Sunday School focusing on the resurrection, and of course fellowship around food. Some of the food we prepare ahead and some we fix together. Please pray for God to bless in all.

Some of the Christian youth from our church who have been studying in Phnom Penh are back in Koh Kong this week for the Khmer New Year. It is great to see their joy and encouragement to the others in our church here. They organized special music for this past Sunday. The practice time together on Saturday was great fellowship too. We are planning some time during this week for studying the Bible together. Thank God for those who are standing strong for the Lord. Please pray for those who are not walking close with the Savior, that they would draw near to Him.

Stand Strong

This week I saw pictures of some of T’s orchard that was burned. He said his neighbor did it because he hates Christians. He had seen a group of us go visit the orchard the day before. Praise God it was only part of the farm which burned because God made the wind blow the second fire back toward the area already burned by the first fire.  Please pray for God to protect the rest of the land. Pray for God to provide all T’s needs.

After the Sunday morning service some of us from the church visited the homes of a couple of the believers who have not come to church for quite a while. One was R. Praise God she and one of her daughters then came to the evening service. Please pray that her husband will allow her to come regularly again.

Please continue to pray for the Christians to have good testimonies for Christ and stand separate from the Buddhist observances during the Khmer New Year these next two weeks.

God's Works

God continues to work in great ways.

-          Saturday’s party for the students studying English turned out great. There were hurtles but God gave victories. We all enjoyed making food together, enjoyed the games, and had great interactions.

 

-          Both Sunday services had very good attendance. There were new people in each.

-          Sunday afternoon some of us from the church went by boat to T.’s farm/orchard. We had a picnic and great fellowship. However on Monday, a section of the orchard was damaged by fire. It has happened other years about this time also. Please pray for God’s protection of the farm and good sales of the produce.

At the hospital, a new volunteer from another organization began work today. She plans to be here a year. Please pray for her spiritual needs.
