Pointing People to Jesus

Hubert is working on making a calendar in Khmer language for 2013. We would like to distribute it to make new contacts and invite people to church. Please pray that God would help us in preparing this and getting it printed well.

Please continue to pray that the Lord would help us in our lesson preparations. It is a delight to teach God’s Word.

Thank you for Praying

Thank you for praying for God’s work here in Cambodia.

Last week Hubert and I were in Chantaburi, Thailand, for three days. God helped us in shopping for various items for several different people. He protected us in travel. He even got us home on Wednesday in time for Hubert’s 4:45 pm English class and 6 pm prayer meeting. Today Hubert is in Phnom Penh. He plans to return tomorrow. Please continue to ask the Lord for daily safety in travel.

We are requesting permission now for our visitors, the Weeks, to work at the hospital with me in late December and early January. Pray for God to make this process proceed smoothly.

Four of the young adults in our church have begun practicing for the play, New Life in Christ again. It is the same play that was done for the radio and then the church about two years ago. It portrays Cambodians overcoming their Buddhist objections to following Christ. There are new people attending the evening services that have not seen it before. Pray that they will understand and that God will use it to help them decide to turn to Christ.

“Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” 1 Timothy 2:4

"That They Might Be Saved"

Many Cambodians want to learn English in order to help them get good jobs. Teaching English as a second language is a great tool for evangelism. Many in Hubert’s English classes in the past have been high school or college-age students. Some have been older people in careers. His present class is a mixture. Today a Buddhist monk dressed in his orange robe expressed interest in studying English. There are also some Cambodian teachers who teach English that Hubert has offered to teach in order that their English would improve.  Pray for God to give wisdom to Hubert as he teaches. Pray that God would send just the right students who are willing to listen to the Good News of Jesus. Pray for more people to turn to Christ for salvation through this outreach.

Cambodia has a big holiday this month, October 14, 15, and 16. For two weeks preceding those dates, people visit many pagodas to offer food to their ancestors. They think the spirits of the deceased are wandering around and the more places they leave offerings, the greater chance of the relatives finding it. Many travel to their home towns at this time. We see our neighbors offering incense in front of the altars in their yards too. It is so sad to see people worshipping that which is false. They need the true God.

“Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.” Romans 10:1

 

Prevail in Prayer

God will accomplish that which brings glory to His name. He keeps teaching us of our need to rely on Him. We pray we would see more lives changed by His power here in Koh Kong.

Please pray for:

-          L. in Phnom Penh as she translates Hubert’s theology book into Khmer. We meet her on Skype weekly to go over questions.

-          La. in Koh Kong as he helps Hubert with translating books here in Koh Kong.

-          The youth in Cham Yiem. Praise God that four boys from there came to church last Sunday.

-          M. who started studying the Bible daily with me. She is not a Christian yet. She is part of the medical staff and has only been in Koh Kong three months. The other medical staff who were studying English with Hubert stopped coming.

-          God to help me in teaching at the hospital.

-          Shawn and Michelle preparing to come work with us in December and January. Shawn is a medical student and his wife is a physical therapist.
