Witnesses

Praise God for seven people who are preparing to be baptized soon. Pray for them to grow in grace and knowledge of the Lord. Pray that the service February 1 will be a great witness to others. Pray for smooth arrangements for boats.

Thank you for praying for the pharmacy order. God answered and we got many of the medicines here in Koh Kong at a very good price. I have a few more to get in Phnom Penh when I go up there this weekend. There are several other errands, plus going to the airport to meet the USA team. Pray for safety in the capital.

Pray for Khmer Christians as well as American Christians who will be preaching and doing one-on-one evangelism during the mobile clinics January 28 - February 4. Pray for them to be bold, clear, loving, and have wisdom from God. Pray for hearts to turn to Christ.

“And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel.” Eph. 6:19

Have faith in God

This Sunday the ladies’ Sunday School lesson continued on the attributes of God. As I reviewed it again before teaching I thanked God for the reminder that our faith is in such a wonderful God. This past week I was in Bangkok with our youngest daughter. She had a medical problem that needed specialists. We thank God that I was able to go be with her through the doctor visits and tests. We thank God for good medical care available. We thank God for working out the transportation for each of us, our housing, and God’s provision for every detail. We thank him for treatment she was able to get. It was not easy to see her return to her place of service alone, yet I know God tenderly cares for each of our children in all the places he has put them.

Besides his regular services and classes, Hubert continued to work on preparing tracts. They are at the printers now. Please pray that we will have them soon in order to use them for the mobile medical clinics. Also please pray for the pharmacy order for the clinics. My pharmacist friend  is filling the order this week. Please pray for the team members coming from the States next week: Joy, Chad, Phuong, Aaron, Sarah, Sue, and Cheryl. Pray also for Michelle and Abby our BMM co-workers coming from another province to help in this outreach. We will watch what God will do.

“And I will strengthen them in the LORD…” Zechariah 10:12

 

 

New Year

Praise God for answering prayer. Tuesday I was able to meet the director of the provincial health department and he signed the permission papers for next month’s mobile medical clinics. A friend of mine was assisting him and the director gave the papers to her to process. She will see that the district health offices and local health centers get notified. Those centers should in turn notify people to come for the mobile clinics. Please continue to pray that God will bring people that they may hear the gospel and receive medical care.  I also met again with a pharmacist friend in town who is ordering medicines for us. She is making good progress. It was exciting to see God working.

Christmas is not an official holiday in the Buddhist country of Cambodia. People went to work and school as usual. We enjoyed a lovely Christmas dinner with eight guests during their lunch break. I took the day off from working at the hospital, but got called in to help a foreign tourist who was sick. Pray for God to work in hearts of people from all over the world that we have encounters with.   

As we enter the New Year 2015 we eagerly watch what more great things God will do. Praise him for being so wonderful and for hearing and answering prayer.

“Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy glory unto their children.” Psalm 90:16

 

Christmas

The Christmas service and program went very well on Sunday the 21^st . Praise God for this answer to prayer. There was an excellent attendance: about 39. Everyone enjoyed participating. Many had memorized verses to tell the Christmas story. We pray that God will continue to build his church here in Koh Kong. We have invited several of the Christian youth from the church to come for Christmas dinner with us on Christmas Day, the 25^th. Pray that it would be a blessing and used of the Lord.

My work at the hospital is busier than before since one of the doctors moved away. Pray that God will use me as an effective witness there and give fruit. Pray for wisdom. Thank him for the opportunity to serve there.

During my noon hour I have a daily Bible class followed by an English class with two students. At 5 pm I teach another Bible class. Please pray for me to teach well and for these students to keep growing in their walk with the Lord.

Have a wonderful Christmas worshipping the One who is Wonderful.

“…And his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

 

 

"I Will Answer"

The Christmas season is a beautiful time to thank God for his people all over the world celebrating our Savior’s birth, especially you who pray for us. Please pray for the Cambodian Christians remembering Christ’s coming and for their outreach to others. Next Sunday, the 21^st is our church’s celebration. We plan a fellowship meal together as well as the program.

Praise God for P. who accepted Christ yesterday. Her sister has been witnessing to her and brought her to church twice. P.’s husband also came to church yesterday. Please pray for him to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ too.

Hubert has two tracts at a new printer in Phnom Penh right now. Please pray that they will turn out well and that God will guide in the details producing them. Pray also that God will use them to bring people to himself.

I have been working on permission letters to the provincial health department. Please pray for the letters to be worded corrected in both English and Khmer and for the authorities to be helpful in preparing for the mobile medical clinics next month.

New

Saturday evening the Christian youth from church had fun decorating our house for Christmas. This is an annual event, but only two of the nine young people present had done it before. What a testimony of God’s grace as we watched these new Christians enjoying fellowship. Pray for them to grow in their walk with the Lord. Pray for the youth that have moved away for university or jobs, that they would serve the Lord with zeal.

Please pray for preparations for the Christmas program December 21. Many of the church people are participating by memorizing verses to present the incarnation story. The children are acting out the story. They love wearing the costumes. The bell choir is practicing. Pray for a meaningful celebration.

Please pray as I work on ordering medicines and supplies for the January mobile medical clinics. I am looking into an alternative place to purchase things since the former place changed ownership and is not as good now.

“Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.” 2 Corinthians 9:15

 

 

 

Treasures

SP is a treasure. She is one of Hubert’s English class students who a few days ago finally admitted she had sin and prayed to accept Christ. Now she is very happy. Please pray for her to grow in the Lord and be used of God to help others know Him.

The books and literature printed in Phnom Penh this past week turned out better than last time. Thank you for praying. The tracts Hubert wrote look nice, but are expensive. Please keep praying for God to give wisdom and possibly show us a cheaper place for printing.

When we worked in Central Africa, another missionary advised us, “Hold your possessions loosely.” We have tried to do that. But I was clutching my handbag quite firmly as we walked on the sidewalk in Phnom Penh when a man on a motorcycle zoomed by and yanked it out of my hand. I was helpless to do anything. I was so grateful to God that my only injury was a sore hand and arm and nothing worse. I am grateful that you were praying for our travels last week. I thank God Hubert was with me. Thank God that though I lost my phone, we have now purchased a new one. The other items are gradually getting replaced too. It is so good to know God has a good purpose for what He allows in our lives.

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth…where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven…” Matthew 6:19,20
