Chum Naup

The Lord is continually showing His working and power. Bible studies with young believers are going well. The Khmer Christians are witnessing to others. Please pray for God to continue to use their witness and bring people to himself. Also God is giving me many opportunities at the hospital to serve him.
God helped us prepare the paperwork for permission for next week’s one day mobile medical clinic and get it approved today. He is putting together the team. Please pray for Hubert and L. going up to the town of Chum Naup this week to meet with the leaders and spread the word for patients to come. Hubert’s motorcycle got repaired today to prepare for the trip. Pray for people to get saved through this outreach.
Next week Monday we plan to go to Phnom Penh and meet one of our daughters coming to visit for one week. She is excited to participate in the work during her days with us before traveling on.  Please pray for God’s blessing on her and our travels, and her meeting with many people in the weeks and months ahead.

Good News

After the Sunday evening service yesterday, K. prayed to receive Christ. He counted the cost, expecting his parents’ disapproval, but knew he needed to obey God. Please pray for him to grow in the Lord. He has been a student in Hubert’s English class for quite a while.
Praise God for people at the hospital and in the English classes who are hearing about the Lord. God is so good to open opportunities to share and he helps us explain the Good News. Pray for more people to turn to him for salvation.
Hubert and I are considering doing a one day mobile medical clinic in a mountain village soon. Rainy season begins up there even sooner than in our town, so we would like to do it about three weeks from now. Pray for wisdom, the right Cambodian helpers, and hearts to be prepared to hear of Christ.

Mobile Medical Clinics

Thank you for praying for the mobile medical clinics. God worked out the arrival of the tracts, the team transportation, meals, housing, schedule, and many other details so smoothly. People came from many towns. The Cambodian medical staff at the health centers where we worked were receptive and listened to the gospel too. Michael Freeze was a great help in Phnom Penh when the team went up to fly out. He borrowed a van and took us around. Other details are in our prayer letter.
Now I am back to the hospital and teaching ultrasounds again. Pray for the staff there to respond to the gospel. My daily Bible studies have also resumed. Hubert’s English classes are going well, but he would like to add new students. Please pray for God to send the right ones who will be interested in knowing God’s truth.
Please continue to pray for the Koh Kong Christians studying and working in Phnom Penh, that they would serve God well in good local churches there.

Baptism

Praise God for the seven new Christians who followed the Lord in baptism on Sunday! After the morning service, about 27 of us walked to the park where T. picked us up in a fishing boat. We went out into the estuary and held the baptism. The tide was high, so the water was deeper than usual at that point. It was no problem for Hubert who is tall, but the others who went into the water wore life jackets. It was a great to hear their testimonies and see their joy in taking this step. Please pray for them to be strong in the Lord and pray for their families to turn to Christ.
The medical team members served the Lord well in the Sunday services at church in teaching, testimonies, and special music. What an encouragement to the Christians here in Cambodia.
The mobile medical clinics are going well. Many people are hearing the gospel and getting medical care. Please pray for them to turn to Christ. We are traveling in vans through the mountains.  Please pray for the Cambodian health care workers that we meet that they would understand their need of Christ.
At the end of this week the team will be returning to Phnom Penh and then to America. Please pray for their travels. Pray for God’s continuing work in the lives they have touched.

Medical Team

The medical team has arrived here in Cambodia. I met them in Phnom Penh. The bus broke down along the road through the mountains coming to Koh Kong. Two hours later another bus picked us up. The first day in Koh Kong they prepared many medicines and supplies for the mobile medical clinics which begin Wednesday. Praise God for the many ways we have seen him working out details so far. Please continue to pray for safety, effective ministry in lives, and God’s glory. It is a joy to serve the Lord together with God’s people. Some of the translators and one Khmer pharmacist who will be helping us are not saved. Pray that they will desire Christ. Thank you for praying.

Witnesses

Praise God for seven people who are preparing to be baptized soon. Pray for them to grow in grace and knowledge of the Lord. Pray that the service February 1 will be a great witness to others. Pray for smooth arrangements for boats.
Thank you for praying for the pharmacy order. God answered and we got many of the medicines here in Koh Kong at a very good price. I have a few more to get in Phnom Penh when I go up there this weekend. There are several other errands, plus going to the airport to meet the USA team. Pray for safety in the capital.
Pray for Khmer Christians as well as American Christians who will be preaching and doing one-on-one evangelism during the mobile clinics January 28 - February 4. Pray for them to be bold, clear, loving, and have wisdom from God. Pray for hearts to turn to Christ.

Have faith in God

This Sunday the ladies’ Sunday School lesson continued on the attributes of God. As I reviewed it again before teaching I thanked God for the reminder that our faith is in such a wonderful God. This past week I was in Bangkok with our youngest daughter. She had a medical problem that needed specialists. We thank God that I was able to go be with her through the doctor visits and tests. We thank God for good medical care available. We thank God for working out the transportation for each of us, our housing, and God’s provision for every detail. We thank him for treatment she was able to get. It was not easy to see her return to her place of service alone, yet I know God tenderly cares for each of our children in all the places he has put them.
Besides his regular services and classes, Hubert continued to work on preparing tracts. They are at the printers now. Please pray that we will have them soon in order to use them for the mobile medical clinics. Also please pray for the pharmacy order for the clinics. My pharmacist friend  is filling the order this week. Please pray for the team members coming from the States next week: Joy, Chad, Phuong, Aaron, Sarah, Sue, and Cheryl. Pray also for Michelle and Abby our BMM co-workers coming from another province to help in this outreach. We will watch what God will do.
