"I Will Answer"

The Christmas season is a beautiful time to thank God for his people all over the world celebrating our Savior’s birth, especially you who pray for us. Please pray for the Cambodian Christians remembering Christ’s coming and for their outreach to others. Next Sunday, the 21^st is our church’s celebration. We plan a fellowship meal together as well as the program.

Praise God for P. who accepted Christ yesterday. Her sister has been witnessing to her and brought her to church twice. P.’s husband also came to church yesterday. Please pray for him to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ too.

Hubert has two tracts at a new printer in Phnom Penh right now. Please pray that they will turn out well and that God will guide in the details producing them. Pray also that God will use them to bring people to himself.

I have been working on permission letters to the provincial health department. Please pray for the letters to be worded corrected in both English and Khmer and for the authorities to be helpful in preparing for the mobile medical clinics next month.

New

Saturday evening the Christian youth from church had fun decorating our house for Christmas. This is an annual event, but only two of the nine young people present had done it before. What a testimony of God’s grace as we watched these new Christians enjoying fellowship. Pray for them to grow in their walk with the Lord. Pray for the youth that have moved away for university or jobs, that they would serve the Lord with zeal.

Please pray for preparations for the Christmas program December 21. Many of the church people are participating by memorizing verses to present the incarnation story. The children are acting out the story. They love wearing the costumes. The bell choir is practicing. Pray for a meaningful celebration.

Please pray as I work on ordering medicines and supplies for the January mobile medical clinics. I am looking into an alternative place to purchase things since the former place changed ownership and is not as good now.

Treasures

SP is a treasure. She is one of Hubert’s English class students who a few days ago finally admitted she had sin and prayed to accept Christ. Now she is very happy. Please pray for her to grow in the Lord and be used of God to help others know Him.

The books and literature printed in Phnom Penh this past week turned out better than last time. Thank you for praying. The tracts Hubert wrote look nice, but are expensive. Please keep praying for God to give wisdom and possibly show us a cheaper place for printing.

When we worked in Central Africa, another missionary advised us, “Hold your possessions loosely.” We have tried to do that. But I was clutching my handbag quite firmly as we walked on the sidewalk in Phnom Penh when a man on a motorcycle zoomed by and yanked it out of my hand. I was helpless to do anything. I was so grateful to God that my only injury was a sore hand and arm and nothing worse. I am grateful that you were praying for our travels last week. I thank God Hubert was with me. Thank God that though I lost my phone, we have now purchased a new one. The other items are gradually getting replaced too. It is so good to know God has a good purpose for what He allows in our lives.

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth…where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven…” Matthew 6:19,20

Thanksgiving

Thanks be to God for his answering prayer over and over. We thank him for you who pray. We are grateful for safety on our trip to Si Pat last Wednesday. Everything went very smoothly. We do want to have a mobile clinic there, but decisions still need to be made about the other sites and schedules for the mobile clinics. Please continue to pray for wisdom.

We thank God for new believers that are studying the Bible with us. Please continue to pray for the salvation of families of Christians in the church.

Thanksgiving Day we plan to celebrate with three other missionary families over on the east side of Cambodia, by the Vietnamese border. Please pray as we travel (buses), run errands in Phnom Penh (renew my visa, get more printing done, shop, etc.), as we fellowship, and as we offer our sacrifices of thanksgiving to our wonderful God.

“And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.” Psalm 107:22

 

Wednesday's Trip

Praise God for two girls (C. and D.) from Hubert’s English class who have been coming twice a week for extra Bible classes. Sunday they both prayed to receive Christ as Savior. Please pray for them to grow in Christ and shine for him to their families and friends.

Praise God for good Bible studies last week with W.  We also praise God for great talks about the gospel with the two French doctors who worked here at our hospital last week. Pray they will read the books we gave them and continue to consider what they heard, even now that they have returned to France.

God was helping last week when I visited the Provincial Health Department to discuss the medical team coming next January. The director was available to talk with me and had helpful suggestions. This week Wednesday, Hubert and I plan to borrow a car and drive to a town, Si Pat, on the east side of the province. We have never been there before. We are not sure how good the road will be there at the end of rainy season. It is a potential location for a mobile medical clinic. We hope to visit a couple other places as well in preparation for the team. Please pray for safety, for guidance to the right people and places, and for wisdom. We desire to see God’s name glorified.

“The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me..” Psalm 138:8

 

 

 

Bible Studies

Three weeks ago we asked prayer for a young man (V.) finishing university in Phnom Penh. God answered prayer and provided a job for him. It is near Phnom Penh. We are disappointed not to have him back in Koh Kong yet, but God has his timing. V. is visiting Koh Kong this week and wants a daily Bible study. Pray as Hubert teaches him. Today V’s motorcycle broke down while coming. Pray for obstacles to be removed and God to help them to have a profitable time in his Word.

God gave Miss L. and me good times studying the Bible together last week. We went to the hospital to see patients together to help her in her medical education. We did not get to go on visitation. Thank you for praying, and please keep asking God to save her family.

For the next 10 days, there are two French doctors, specialists in obstetrics and gynecology, working at our hospital. They come once a year, so Hubert and I have gotten to know them. Pray that God will work in their hearts to turn to Christ.

Family

L. is one of the Cambodians who calls me "Mom". This week there is a three day water festival (Cambodia has lots of holidays). While many people will be going to Phnom Penh for special events there, L., a Christian medical student from Koh Kong who is studying in Phnom Penh plans to come visit her family and us. Please pray for her travels, our special time together, and her encouragement to the Christians here. We hope to do visitation together, share time in God’s Word, and be a light to her unsaved family.

God is so gracious in giving us good Skype visits with our children in the various parts of the world where they live and serve. This week Cherith and Jonathan skyped us from France. Two of our grandchildren there recited Scripture passages. It thrills my heart to hear them hiding God’s Word in their hearts.
