Thank Him

 Let’s thank God together for some of the things He is doing.

-          Thank Him for new doctors, nurses, and pharmacists that just began working at the Koh Kong hospital. Pray for me to be able to get to know them and that God would use me to introduce them to Christ.

-          Thank Him for giving Hubert a good trip to Phnom Penh last week. He did it in just two days and was able to use his time studying on the bus rides as well.

-          Thank Him for the growing number of Chinese people living in Koh Kong now and the occasional contact I get with them at the hospital.

-          Thank Him for the new opportunity God is giving me to work in Srae Umbel hospital. Initially I will be spending the week of July 23-28 there. It is three hours away. We will watch God provide transportation, a place for me to stay, guide in how to best help the staff at the hospital, and carry the gospel of Christ to this town. Please pray much for this.

“That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him…” 2 Thess. 1:12

God Enables

Work at the hospital has been especially busy last week as two of the doctors were away. My time has been split between rounds on in- patients in the medicine ward, consultations in the out-patient department, doing ultrasounds, and doing some new admissions. Upon retirement of the hospital director, one of the other doctors was promoted to director. In the many contacts with the patients and staff God has given opportunities to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. Pray for Him to work in hearts and draw people to Himself. Pray for me to speak clearly and be an effective instrument in God’s hands. Also please pray concerning the Provincial Health Department’s request that I help in another hospital as well.

Saturday T. and his daughter S. took me in their boat up to Koh Pao area where we had a mobile medical clinic June 4. We hoped to visit Mrs.T. who accepted the Lord at the clinic. However she was out of town. Her husband was drinking with friends at another house but the 16 year old daughter listened to the gospel. She has been reading the Bible we gave her when we visited a couple weeks ago. Please pray for this family.

Hubert plans to go to Phnom Penh again toward the end of this week. Pray for safety and for him to accomplish all he needs to there.

 “…God forbid that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you…” 1 Samuel 12:23

Outreaches

We are on the air again! Hubert arranged with the local Koh Kong FM radio station to air his weekly Bible lessons -- actually re-air the messages going through Genesis and the gospels which he made in 2010. Pray for listeners to understand and to respond to the good news of Jesus Christ. Pray that we would hear from any who make decisions and have follow up with them. We thank God that this reaches throughout the province.

Hubert has begun a new English class. Three days per week he is going to Cham Yiem to teach the teen boys who have studied the Bible with us for so long. For the past month these boys have been coming to our Sunday morning church services here at our home. Hubert arranges each week for a tuk-tuk (motorcycle with covered trailer taxi) to transport them. Pray that those who are Christians would grow in grace and knowledge of the Lord and that the others would accept Christ.  

L. in Phnom Penh is looking to the Lord for guidance in her studies. Pray for her to know the Lord’s will concerning her major and which school. We thank God for her testimony and service to the Lord. Please pray also for her family here in Koh Kong to turn to the Savior.

“…That God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.” 1 Peter 4:11

God is Answering Prayer

 Give thanks for the Lord for the great things He is doing, and continue in prayer.

-         In spite of several trips between our hotel and the priniter, Hubert was able to get another book printed (Basics for New Believers) and more copies made of a previous book (Disciples in Deed). Both of these are in Khmer. Pray for God to use them in teaching people more of His Word.

-          The Koh Kong Provincial Health Department and Ministry of Health in Phnom Penh have granted my permission to continue working in medicine. It was amazing to see how fast the final papers came through. Pray for God to use me in the medical work to share the good news of Jesus Christ.

 

-          God worked out so many details during our trip to Phnom Penh this week. It is good to be home again in Koh Kong. Pray for Hubert’s English classes and my classes (Bible, English, and piano).

-       K. is feeling better now. He is able to sit up again some in his wheel chair.

-          C. is facing decisions in her life. Pray for her to do the right things.

-          L. is planning to work on a team in Thailand for the next 2 weeks. Ask the Lord to use him there, and guard his ice cream shop here while he is away.

“…Great is thy faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:23

Helping Together by Prayer

Although it was a windy morning, L., his father, Hubert and I went in their little fishing boat to the town where our first clinic had been held on June 4. We asked there how to find the mountain town of the lady who had accepted Christ during the clinic. They directed us across the estuary and there we pulled on shore. Next was a hike quite a distance to reach a few scattered houses. Praise God for letting us meet with T. and give her a Bible. We talked about first steps as a Christian. She is rejoicing in belonging to the Lord and knowing she is on her way to heaven. Thank you for praying for our trip. We thank God that the wind did not make too many waves and that we did not get rained on.  Please keep praying for T. to grow and for others in her town to be saved.

Praise God that R.’s arm has healed well from his fractured elbow that we asked for prayer about. His parents took him to Phnom Penh to see an orthopedic doctor. The specialist decided not to do surgery. God intervened and healed him. Please pray for K., a Christian here in Koh Kong who is paraplegic. His physical condition is worsening, but his faith in God is strong. He continues to read His Bible and sing. We would love to see his mother and siblings accept the Lord too.

Hubert is working on getting more copies of the Disciples in Deed book printed in Phnom Penh and a new book on Basics for New Believers also in Khmer language. Pray that God will help in getting these printed well. Pray for wisdom as he will be traveling to Phnom Penh soon.

“Ye also helping together by prayer for us…”  2 Cor. 1:11

  

Mobile Medical Clinics

Praise God for N.’s baptism on Sunday in the estuary. Pray that God would protect her and keep her growing in Him.

Praise God for T. who accepted Christ on Monday. Please pray that she would grow in Christ. Pray that we can visit her again to teach her.  She was among the patients and families at one of our mobile clinics at an island town. It had been an adventure getting to the town via fishing boat in the rain. But the people gathered in the school room and listened well to the preaching of the gospel morning and afternoon. Many sick received medical care. We thank God for the medical team from the States and the Cambodian Christians witnessing. God provided the needed translators. Tuesday and Wednesday were also busy clinics in other towns. On Thursday after driving three hours on muddy, difficult roads, we reached a stream too deep to ford and had to turn back without doing a clinic in that mountain town. Pray for God to continue to work in hearts of people touched during these two weeks of special outreach that there may be more fruit for eternity. The USA part of the team has been a great blessing to us. They are on their way traveling back to the States right now.

Please pray for my papers for renewal of permission to do medical work in Koh Kong. The papers are on the way to the Ministry of Health in Phnom Penh now.

Praise God for the blog being accessible again.

Back in Koh Kong

God has brought us safely to Cambodia again. My sister Sue and I arrived about midnight on May 8. It was delightful to see Hubert at the Phnom Penh airport to meet us. Our baggage all arrived fine with us. The following day was a holiday, so that delayed the processing of our passports to get one year Cambodian visas. We picked the visas up on Friday afternoon the 11^th. During the three days in the capital we did shopping, visited two of the Koh Kong Christians studying in Phnom Penh, and bought medicines and medical supplies for the medical team coming soon.

The bus down to Koh Kong leaves Phnom Penh twice a day and the Saturday morning one was booked full two days ahead. So we got tickets for the Saturday noon bus. It turned out that they ran a 19 passenger bus that run instead of the big bus, so we could not fit all our baggage on. God worked things out that half came with us stacked on the back seat beside us, and the rest came on the following morning bus.

Hubert had prepared the house well in his three weeks arrival ahead of us. But there is still more to unpack and find places for. We are trying to adjust to the heat again. Sunday we had great fellowship with Koh Kong Baptist Church. God has been blessing them and they are standing strong for the Lord. They are happy to have us back to teach the Word of God. Please pray as we prepare lessons.

I have been called on to do several medical consults already. Please pray for R., a 6 six year old boy with a fractured elbow. Pray for good healing for him.

This week is a three day celebration of the king’s birthday, so I cannot go yet to the provincial health office to discuss which towns we will hold mobile clinics at. Pray that it will happen soon and that God will help the towns to be prepared for our coming. The team arrives here in Koh Kong on May 28. Thank you for praying and watching God work.
