Pray and Watch

God has been working

- in our recent excellent meetings in churches in Flint, MI, and Indianapolis, IN

- in meetings with individual supporters and people interested in coming to serve in Cambodia

- in renovations to the front of our duplex being completed

- in special times with our home church, with friends and with family around Thanksgiving Day.

A friend is working on getting a smart phone for us to use for my medical program in Cambodia. There have been snags in getting this through. Please pray and watch what God will do.

We need God’s power to work through us to accomplish His work for His glory.

Thanksgiving Prayer

Thank you, Lord, for your church in Koh Kong, Cambodia. Someday in heaven our churches here in the USA will get to meet those dear believers that You have purchased with Your blood. Thank you for blessing in the services as your people study the Word of God, pray together and sing praises to you in the lovely Khmer language. Thank you that they are continuing to memorize Scripture. Thank you for L. leading the flock and studying for the sermons each week. Thank you for guarding him on the slippery road to Tema Bang each Saturday as he goes to teach. Now that the rains have about stopped it is slippery gravel instead of mud. Please help him to get ice cream again to sell in his ice cream shop since the flooding in Thailand stopped the supply. Please help Koh Kong to get electricity restored. They have been several days without it again. Thank you for the deacon, T. Please bless him and his family and provide their needs. Please keep the birds from eating his rice crop. Thank you that K., the paraplegic, is able to sit up and work in his repair shop. Please guard his health and keep him growing in knowledge of You and Your Word. Please help the believers in Cham Yiem where we can no longer go and hold Bible classes. Please help the Koh Kong Baptist Church as they begin preparations for Christmas outreaches. Thank you, Lord, that Your name is being lifted up in that corner of the world. Amen.

Thankful

As we anticipate Thanksgiving Day next week we reflect on God’s goodness to us. We are thankful for:

•  God’s grace and great salvation
•  Friends who pray for us and for God’s work in Cambodia
•  The Christians in Koh Kong who are standing true for the Lord
•  Safety as we travel on furlough
•  God’s working in our meetings in churches
•  Progress on the Asia Cambodia/Thai video project
•  Some new Bible study books we just got
•  Seeing our first snowfall in a long time
•  Special times with our family and friends here in the States

"Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place."  2 Corinthians 2:14

Encouragement

We have just come from Missionary Christmas weekend at First Baptist Church of Rochester Hills, Michigan. We are rejoicing and thanking God for a great time. Throughout the days there was encouraging fellowship with the saints. It was great to hear how God is working in their lives. Many people there are praying faithfully for God’s work in Cambodia. Please pray for even more people to go forth to serve the Lord in missions.

On the way back to our home in Allendale we stopped and visited a friend who had purchased and prepared a new computer and printer for us. He has joy in giving to God in this way so we will have these tools we need for ministry on the field. We rejoice and give thanks to God for this equipment and for the willing heart of His servant.

Our schedule for this coming week includes:

-- Speaking at the CMDA/Biomedical Christian Fellowship, Cleveland, OH

-- Visiting our daughter Hannah and family in Carmel, IN

Koh Kong

We thank God for the faithfulness of the Cambodian Christians at Koh Kong Baptist Church. As they meet for worship, studying Scripture, fellowship, and service, they rejoice in God’s steadfast love. L. continues to preach, teach, and lead. Thank you for praying for him. N., who accepted Christ last June, has been attending regularly now too. She has two young children. Thank you for praying for her. Please pray for the salvation of her husband.

Each Saturday L. has been going up to the mountain town of Tema Bang to teach a discipleship class for the two believers there. He drives our Honda 100 motorcycle over the muddy, slippery road. He has fallen a couple times. Praise God he was not injured. The cycle lost its license plate in one fall. L. will need to get the motorcycle registered again to secure a new plate. Please pray that this process will go smoothly. The rainy season usually ends in November which will make travel a bit easier.

When the city electricity was off for a few days, all the ice cream melted in L.’s ice cream shop. Power is back on now, and his new ice cream order should arrive soon, but this is a financial loss. Pray that God would bless and use the shop in providing for L. and as a place for sharing the gospel.

“That the trial of your faith…might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.”

Homegoing

Betty Teachout, the mother of our son-in-law, Jonathan, was promoted to glory today. She ran well and finished the course of her life on earth. She was 80 years old. Now she is rejoicing in the presence of her Savior. She, with her husband, Don, and three sons, served the Lord as missionaries in Central African Republic (CAR) with Baptist Mid-Missions. It was our privilege to be fellow missionaries with the Teachout family in CAR. During our furlough these past months, we have enjoyed some special times with Betty in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Please pray for her family at this time.

We thank the Lord that about 50% of the funds for the SE Asia video project have come in. We look to God to provide the remaining amount. Pray for God’s guidance in preparing a script for it.

The Lord is so precious to us. His people are also precious. We are so grateful to the Lord for the wonderful fellowship we are having with many special people. May He be pleased to continue to use our lives to proclaim His glory.

"Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints." Psalm 116:15

God Answers Prayer

God delights to answer prayer. We were greatly blessed in the Alto missionary conference last weekend. We pray it will result in fruit for eternity. The fellowship with God’s people was wonderful. Please pray as we continue to report to churches the works of the Lord in Cambodia and meet with individuals. It encourages us and helps people know how to pray.

Also during this past week much progress was made on our duplex renovation. We offer thanks to God.

Please pray as I seek further training in radiology and ultrasounds to use when we return to Cambodia. The Koh Kong hospital is looking forward to this being a help to their program.

In Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Lekana, who formerly served in Koh Kong Baptist Church, has been searching for the right school and scholarships for her further studies. She desires to serve the Lord with her life. She has gotten into a good church there. Please keep praying for her that God will open the right doors and provide. She also needs a place to live, preferably near her school and church. Together we will watch what God will do.
